It is contained in a 6” high x 5” ‘presentation booklet’ that when opened reveals the history of The Lucky Gold Angel on one side and the gold coin on the other.“Over the last 125 years, the French Gold Angel has sparked countless legends of good luck. It all started during the French Revolution when the coin’s designer, Augustine Dupre found himself on the scaffolding and the next in line for the guillotine. Lightening struck nearby and Dupre escaped execution – a stroke of good luck he attributed to the Gold Angel in his pocket! Ever since that date, the Gold Angel has been converted as a ‘lucky’ coin.
