The Perth Mint introduced the Silver Kookaburra in 1990 as a brand-new approach to coin design in Australia. With the introduction of this coin series, the Perth Mint focused its major bullion coin designs on the native animal species unique to the continent. The existing Gold Nugget bullion coins transitioned into the Australian Gold Kangaroo, and other collectors to arise in the last three decades include the Silver Koala, Silver Kangaroo, and Silver Wedge Tail Eagle.
All of these 2020 1 oz Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins are available to you with an individual acrylic capsule from the Perth mint. The coins are all in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and have an unlimited mintage schedule. The mint will continue to strike the coins as demand requires only through the end of the 2020 calendar year.
On the reverse of 2020 1 oz Silver Kookaburra Coins is Jennifer McKennas depiction of the largest member of the kingfisher species. Here, a single kookaburra is perched at the edge of a roof as the sun crests the horizon in the background. The stylized sunrays reach out to the edges of the design field and in the bottom rocker, you will find the inscription 30th Anniversary. McKennas JM initials are on this side of the coin along with the P mint mark of the Perth Mint.
The obverse side of 2020 Australian Silver Kookaburra Coins features the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Rather than dominating the entire field, the Queens effigy is in a circle in the top-center field. The center of the design field celebrates the 30th Anniversary by featuring the 1990 Kookaburra design from Stuart Devlin.
