I bought this new. After using it several times I got into gold detecting. Although this detector can be used to prospect for gold, it can’t find the small gold that a gold specific detector can.
This is in great shape, both working and cosmetic.
To me the SE Pro is like a high end digital camera, in that it is complex and there is a learning curve for sure. Like the camera though, there is what I liken to an automatic mode, which was very successful for me in finding coins and relics. It didn’t take me long to start learning the nuances of all that it is capable of and it is amazing. I include a book that helped that process along, ‘The Minelab…Explorer & E-Trac Handbook.’
This detector is in great shape and came with an 11′ coil. It is in the original box that included the Minelab headphones, which are very comfortable to use and sound great.
It comes with the original rechargeable battery and charger which does hold a charge, but since batteries can be fickle I can’t guarantee how long that will last. It also came with the battery stick that you can use alkaline batteries with.

Minelab’s FBS technology simultaneously transmits 28 multiple frequencies from 1.5kHz to 100kHz. The lower the frequency used by a detector, the deeper it can penetrate. The higher the frequency, the higher the sensitivity to small targets, but higher frequencies will not penetrate the ground as deeply. The increased frequency range of the Explorer SE Pro means more sensitive and accurate target identification at greater depths.
FBS technology also improves the detector’s ability to cancel ground mineralisation. Ground balancing is automatic, so whatever the field conditions, the Explorer SE Pro maximises the depth, sensitivity and discrimination.
