Description
This listing is for a distinguished Half Penny from Great Britain,
minted in 1717.
Graded by ANACS as a VF 25.
The reference number in the Krause catalog is KM-549.
The coin is made out of copper
and features the profile of George the First on the obverse,
with a seated Britannia and year on the reverse.
This coin is from a ‘dump’ issue. This refers to the fact that there was a shortage of copper coinage in 1717, causing them to be smaller, thicker, and slightly lighter than previous issues. This occurred between 1717 and 1719.
